    Description

Vintage GOLDEN GATE Expo RING ~San Francisco 1939 GGIE ~International Exposition
From the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition, this fascinating souvenir by-pass or cross-over ring in blue enamel shows San Francisco's iconic Golden Gate Bridge in an interesting cross-section view along with other symbols relevant to its setting, including a fish, airplane, globe map and the sun (or moon).  It must have been a coveted souvenir from the Fair!
On the bottom disc, appear the words "Golden Gate International Exposition 1939".  (The GG Bridge opened in 1937.)   The blue enamel is a perfect backdrop for San Francisco's famous landmark.  The ring screams "Art Deco" in all the streamlined, geometric details.
Set in gold-tone metal I think is brass, each enamel disc is about 3/8" diameter and the (stacked) height is about 13/16".  The ring is currently about a size 7 and can easily be adjusted up or down.
It is in Very Good vintage condition with nothing more than surface dirt, scratches and wear to the gold tone metal, mostly on the inside.  It has a lovely vintage patina; cleaning and polishing are left to the buyer's discretion.
Excitement has been running high for the San Francisco bridges lately.  The GG Bridge recently celebrated its 75th anniversary to much fanfare and the eagerly anticipated new section of the Bay Bridge is now complete.  A major light display festooned on its cables that changes constantly was installed in the Spring of 2013.
This ring is a wearable piece of  history.  Perfect for collectors of Jewelry, World's Fair, San Francisco, and California Memorabilia or Travel Souvenirs, this ring will make a super addition to any collection.
